May be this was because we're running Windows 8.1. In Windows 8.1, it's actually disabled and that is because it was causing a lot of problems. Turn Off Enhanced Protected Mode IE 11 in Windows 7 and Windows 8 comes with a feature called Enhanced Protected Mode enabled by default.
