i unplugged it from both the socket and the magsafe as a last ditch effort and it worked for me too. I also admitted that I had left my macbook in my car overnight and condensation had most likely formed inside causing the connection to rust out a bit. I changed the magsafe connector board but still no luck. I did now replace in the first step (battery and charger) still same issue, very dim light on the magsafe adapter and battery not charging.
