The older versions work fine for my uses. In other words, Adobe told me it's time I pay them some more $ and upgrade to CS5.

On the other hand, what I did learn was to have Apple Care, backup with Time Machine and not hesitate to call Apple for help. All this happened this afternoon and, at the moment, automatic Adobe downloads are in progress to bring the CS3 back up to snuff.

Thanks for the reply. In the tech note Photoshop Elements stops responding after Mac OS update to Yosemite, Adobe says this is a problem related to the trackpad and can be worked around by using a mouse. Paying for an upgrade would be foolish for me. It worked fine with 10.10.1.
