Uninstalled AVG, problem solved. All firewalls on this pc have been turned off so I'm sure this isn't a firewall issue. I reformatted this disc a couple of weeks ago, and everything looks great except for this hang up. Don't rush out and buy a Windows 10 PC because iTunes doesn't work right on that either. AVG 8 paid version was the problem. I'm stuck using IE which is so inferior (in my opinion ) to firefox. Someone recommended the AVG uninstaller, but the problem is I CAN'T open anything I download. check here Regardless if you're using an admin account in windows vista, you would consider that an integral operation of internet explorer, breaking that function pretty much hampers your ability to do anything
